Activity 1 - Fill The Hoop

Purpose: To practice the accuracy of the overarm throw.

Procedure: The students are split into small groups of 2/3. Each group is given 5 beanbags each and a hula hoop. The hula hoop is placed at a fixed distance from the group of students. In turns students must throw the beanbags so that they land in the hoop. After the 5 beanbags are thrown, students will count the number of beanbags which have successfully landed in the hoop. To increase the difficulty, increase the distance from hula hoop.

Equipment: Bean bags, hula hoops
Activity 2 - Darts

Purpose: To practice the accuracy of the overarm throw.

Procedure: A target is placed on the wall (similar to an archery board). Students stand at a fixed distance from the wall in teams. Students must throw an object at the board (bean bag/tennis ball) with the aim of hitting a spot on the board. Points are awarded depending on the area of the board that they hit. Increase the distance from the target board to challenge the students.

Equipment: Target board, various objects (tennis ball, bean bags etc)
